Glass Minnow Fly

I tied up this glass minnow fly for targeting speckled trout under the lights at night. I decided to give it to a newcomer to the sport of fly fishing to let him try it out. The next day I was pleased to learn that he caught a 28″ trout on it… all before I even got to test it out!

It’s a simple fly to tie, basically a clouser with white and gray EP Fibers, trimmed to shape. I added in the Mylar strip on each side to complete the glass minnow look.

Thanks Pat! Good to hear from you. I’m doing fine, living the life in Gulf Shores, working in Orange Beach. I was thinking about all my ACFA friends just the other day. I’ll keep an eye out for a yak. I’m planning on purchasing a few kayaks, and/or paddleboards to run guided trips out of. Have you looked into a paddleboard?
